Many celebrities share their lives with pets, and occasionally these beloved animals captivate the public’s affection, just as their famous owners do, becoming stars in their own right.

Nacho, the lovable orange Maine Coon belonging to celebrity chef Bobby Flay, was undoubtedly one of these exceptional pets. He won the hearts of fans and even served as the inspiration behind a thriving cat food brand.

Regrettably, Bobby Flay recently shared the heartbreaking news of Nacho’s passing at the age of 9.

“I usually don’t share personal family matters, but I genuinely believe he was everyone’s cat in some way,” Flay wrote in a heartfelt Instagram tribute. “Nacho had a magical quality that was truly extraordinary. He came into my life when I needed him most, bringing joyful moments to my household, one after another.”

“As any cat parent will tell you, the connection between you and your feline friend is real, and Nacho’s inclusiveness in our home inspired me to create something that would nourish cats everywhere,” continued the Emmy-winning Food Network star.

Nacho, an Orange Maine Coon, achieved fame in his own right, boasting over 274,000 followers on Instagram. He was the namesake and “co-founder” of Flay’s “cat-crafted, chef-approved” premium cat food brand, Made By Nacho.

Inspired by his cherished cat, Flay aspired to craft a higher-quality cat food product than what was available. “When Nacho and I embarked on creating Made by Nacho, we aimed to offer cats food that was not only wholesome and nutritious but also delectable – something we genuinely believed was lacking in the market,” Flay wrote in a 2022 press release.

Flay found solace in knowing that Nacho’s “legacy will endure perpetually” through the product line.

Flay concluded his message by urging others to shower their pets with love. “Give your pets an extra-long embrace today and say a brief prayer for Nacho. They hold immense significance to all of us.”

Many individuals joined him in mourning Nacho, from devoted fans to fellow celebrity chefs.

“Oh Bobby, I’m truly sorry!! You gave him such a wonderful life!!” wrote fellow Food Network star Ina Garten.

“I’m so sorry, my friend,” expressed chef Emeril Lagasse.

“So sorry,” shared The Wonder Years star Danica McKellar. “Losing pets is one of the most challenging experiences.”

Saying farewell to a beloved pet is always heart-wrenching, irrespective of one’s stature, and we understand how profoundly Nacho touched Bobby Flay. Nacho’s enduring influence will persist, both in the cat food aisle and within the hearts of his numerous admirers 💔❤️
